WHO WE ARE

We are passionate about inspiring children by exciting them about the art, as well as the science, of computing.

Our background is in computer science and teaching. Our staff are Computer Scientists - Bsc (Hons) - who have worked in the software industry, as well as being experienced primary school teachers with Primary Computer Science Master Teacher and Apple Teacher status.

We offer a unique blend of the practical application of computer science in the real world along with experience of teaching computing concepts and skills to young children.

THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM

The Primary National Curriculum for Computing 2014 marks a radical shift in thinking about how children learn about, and using, technology. Moving away from the previous ICT curriculum, which focused primarily on children's ability to use technology, it is designed to equip children in England with the knowledge, skills and understanding of computing that they will require throughout their lives.

The new Programme of Study details what pupils need to know and be able to do in order to become digitally literate in the modern world, with over 50% of the objectives now addressing the fundamental principles of computer science: learning how computers and computer systems work.

Throughout their primary school education, children will develop computational thinking skills and design and create their own digital content using a range of software, tools and technologies.

One of the main challenges to schools in England is that the new curriculum requires primary school teachers to have the subject knowledge and skills about a subject that the vast majority of have never received any training for nor have the confidence to teach.
