Some fairground rides are operated by gears, like roller coasters, ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds and the teacups.


Wind turbines use gears to turn the slow motion of the blades into much faster motion that can then generate electricity.


Gears are used in clocks to make the minute and the hour hand move.
