Stick to the 3 C's of news writing:
Clear - Tell the story as if you were telling just one person, don't use long words if a short one will do the job
Concise - Stick to the point
Correct - Make sure the facts are correct as well as grammar and punctuation
Use interesting vocabulary, good openers and time connectives. You could add a quote from an eye-witness or expert in this section using speech marks.
